The AIBEC Code of Professional Conduct
- You must in your business dealings act honestly and with integrity
- You must comply with the legislative requirements applying to your professional duties
- You must provide reports that are independent and free from influence from others
- You must have in place arrangements for the management and reporting of conflicts of interest
- Unless required by law you will not disclose any reports to a third party without the approval of your instructing client
- Members are bound by the provisions of the General Insurance Code of Practice, as it applies to them
- A member must not by commission or payment seek to secure instructions
- If members are appointed to provide professional services and you become aware that the party you are dealing with is distressed or vulnerable you will report this to your instructing client.
- Members must undertake Continuing Professional Education (CPE) as determined by the AIBEC board
- Members must maintain accreditation of the Building and or Engineering professional body to which they belong
- Members will undertake specific insurance industry training as determined by the AIBEC board
- Members will not recklessly, maliciously or carelessly do anything to damage the good name and reputation of AIBEC
- Members will ensure any advertising is free from inaccuracies or mis-statements
- Reference to AIBEC membership in any website, printed material or otherwise will be in accordance with guidelines established by the AIBEC board
- Members through their employer must hold appropriate insurance cover including Professional Indemnity insurance as determined by the AIBEC Board
- Compliance with the Code will be mandatory for members and any investigation of a breach, which may result in suspension or expulsion, will be conducted in accordance with the rules of natural justice and follow procedures established by the AIBEC board.
